EXCLUSIVE: Jovana Louis on Red Carpet Style, Taking Aim at Ready-to-Wear and Its First New York Store The designer behind looks seen at the Met Gala, Academy Awards, Cannes Film Festival, Golden Globes and more is scaling her luxury house with women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, wholesale and international growth.

Jovana Louis is ready to move beyond the red carpet. The New York- and Paris-based luxury house, founded in 2018 by designer and creative director Jovana Louis Benoit, is expanding into women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, building out its wholesale business and preparing to open its first New York store. Born in Haiti, Benoit was introduced to craftsmanship at an early age through her aunt before moving to Paris to study fashion. Her experiences across Paris, New York and Asia have since become integral to the identity of Jovana Louis, shaping a house defined by an international perspective and a strong commitment to craftsmanship. The brand shared that its designs have been worn by celebrities of various career backgrounds and that its designs have also appeared in Hollywood films and television productions. Benoit’s designs have appeared on the biggest red carpets, including the Academy Awards, the Critics’ Choice Awards, the Golden Globes, the Cannes Film Festival and the Met Gala. “My goal was never simply to create beautiful clothes,” Benoit said. “I want to build a house with its own identity, its own language and a world that women and men want to be part of.” Custom red carpet gowns and special-occasion commissions helped build the brand’s reputation. But for Benoit, celebrity dressing was the launchpad, not the destination. The challenge now is translating the house’s couture craftsmanship and visual impact into a ready-to-wear business that can scale without diluting the signatures that set Jovana Louis apart. Jovana Louis’ designs have been largely made to order. Alongside gowns, the atelier’s custom offering spans special-occasion dressing, accessories and personalized pieces — giving the ready-to-wear collection an established vocabulary of silhouettes, fabrics and finishes from which to evolve. The company describes glamour, sculpture, culture and feminine power as four themes that inform its designs. In Benoit’s hands, glamour is modern, sophisticated and sensual rather than excessive. Silhouette is fundamental, with clothing designed to understand and transform the body while aiming to keep attention on the wearer. Sharp tailoring, sculptural volume and a commanding sense of presence run throughout the collections, whether expressed through a one-of-a-kind gown or a jacket designed for everyday wear. “I want someone to see a silhouette and know it is Jovana Louis before they see the label,” Benoit said. The company describes its intended customer as ambitious, sophisticated and cosmopolitan, with an appreciation for statement dressing. She isn’t dressing to blend in. She is dressing to create a moment. Menswear extends that same point of view to a new customer, translating the house’s tailoring and sculptural codes into a men’s wardrobe. Wholesale, meanwhile, is intended to introduce the collections to a broader client base in the U.S. and international markets, building on the global visibility that red carpet dressing has already delivered. The upcoming New York store will give Jovana Louis its first permanent retail address in the fashion markets, creating a physical home for the universe Benoit has been building through collections, celebrity dressing and international appearances. For a label that built its name one red carpet moment at a time, the next phase is about consistency and recognition: making Jovana Louis as identifiable on a store rail as it is on a celebrity. With ready-to-wear, menswear, wholesale and a New York retail presence in the pipeline, Benoit is laying the groundwork for Jovana Louis’ next chapter — expanding the brand from its red carpet foundation into a broader international luxury fashion house. Jovana Louis designs are not simply made to be seen. They are made to be remembered.
